Last friday, I went to SM Megamall to watch “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros)” with Rodney, Vench, and Ace.

A 12-year old effeminate gay fell in love with his amateur policeman hero who saved him from 2 nasty neighbors. Maxi was caught in between his family and his hero when the latter is trying to solve a robbery and murder case involving his eldest brother. The film presented the romantic side of being gay, without any sexual desires but pure love. Moreover, being gay is not an issue. He is well accepted by his family, friends, neighbors, and his hero. The theme song is a heart-warming one.

This is a one-of-a-kind independent film. It will make you smile, laugh, and cry. Two thumbs up!
